Our History
Our humble beginning started in a 650 square foot rental suite on December 15th, 2001. Then, in 2011, we purchased an 1,800 square foot, 100 year old brick bungalow. This West Racine neighborhood gem was saved with a 12 week intense and complete renovation to restore it to its former craftsmanship and give new life to a space that had been home to so many. With respect to the year it was built, 1914, we stayed true to the period preservation, saving the maple hardwood floors, replicating millwork on moldings that couldn’t be saved, to the light fixtures and even the paint on the walls. When you walk into The Bluegrass you will feel like you are somewhere else in time.
The Bluegrass represents the four elements of the earth. Blue is the color of the sky and sea and green the color of grass, covering the ground we walk on and cleaning the air we breathe.
Our Team
Our staff of licensed professionals are dedicated to their craft and work hard to stay current with trends in haircutting and color placement. We hold ourselves to a higher standard through our education practices required by Aveda so that we can provide service to our community from our entry level apprentices to our master stylist.
We Are a Training salon
Apprenticeship is an affordable option to “earn as we learn” program. Our apprentices provide a more affordable service option to our community through practicing under the supervision of our licensed professionals. While Gateway Technical College provides the student all of their theory requirements needed to pass their state board exam.
